Katie Fisher, MAEd, MS, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University, and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Grand Valley State University.
Prior to working for Blossom Behavioral, Katie was a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher in the Walled Lake School System for 11 years. As a mother of 3, she returned to school after 5 years home to become and Occupational Therapist.
She continues to love making a difference in children’s lives that do not always fit the societal mold. In all her years of working she has worked one-on-one with children of all ages with a wide variety of disabilities and/or delays including Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome, Selective Mutism, Developmental Delays, Low Muscle Tone, ADD, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities.
Katie has knowledge working with several intervention techniques including Sensory Processing Integration, ESDM, PRT, DIR/Floortime, Anxiety in children, and Behavioral Plans (as a teacher).
Her passion lies within Sensory Processing Disorders and is eager continue to share her knowledge in this area with parents and clinicians that want to know more.
